I suppose it is heart-warming that Dr. Phil's aborted mission to save Britney Spears has finally exposed him as the media whore that he is. It kind of restores my faith in humanity.
As point of clarity on what actually happened at the hospital, TMZ gives the most credible looking report. Here's the real story.
So now Phil is trying to hold it together, but the wheels are coming off:
- Celebrities are snubbing his 1000-show anniversary.
- The Spears family is crying foul, although I wonder if this isn't just some backside covering.
- He's apparently under investigation by the California Board of Psychology for (attempting to) practice psychology without a license. Not only does he not have a license in California, but he apparently doesn't have one in Texas either. In his defense, Phil says he went "as a friend." Now I would agree with him that he didn't go as a therapist. No, he went as a TV producer.
- Even worse, it seems Oprah might have turned on him too. She's been upset about lawsuits over his diet book and is now being pushed over the edge by his refusal to admit he was wrong.
- Oprah might be having an effect, because now, after a week of defiance, of he's being forced to apologize.
